What is the meaning of dressings? Types and functions of dressings

1、 What does dressing mean
Dressing is an external medicine for wound healing, mainly refers to hemostatic gauze (usually medical absorbent gauze). It can supervise and cover the wound. However, it cannot be used for infectious wounds, has no promoting effect on wound healing, has limited exudation management ability, adheres to the wound, re-injures and causes bleeding to the new epithelial tissue, and the patient has pain after changing the dressing.

2、 Effect of dressing
1. Resistance to mechanical factors (such as dirt, collision, inflammation, etc.), pollution and chemical stimulation.
2. Prevent secondary infection.
3. Prevent drying and body fluid loss (electrolyte loss).
4. Prevent heat loss.
5. In addition to comprehensive protection of the wound, it can also actively influence the wound healing process through debridement and create a microenvironment to promote wound healing.
3、 Type of dressing
1. Interactive dressing
It contains acrylate polymer with super absorption. After being activated by Ringer's solution, Ringer's solution will be released for 24 hours continuously to continuously, actively and effectively clean the wound. It is applicable to all open wounds (except narrow and deep wounds), including infectious wounds and healing stages, especially the debridement stage.
2. Silver dressing
Silver ion can directly kill bacteria, control wound infection, accelerate wound healing, and remove the odor caused by bacteria. It is an ideal anti-infection dressing.
3. Calcium alginate dressing
It is a mixture of alginate and calcium ion, which forms a smooth gel after contacting with wound exudate and bleeding, protecting the wound surface and effectively promoting wound healing.
4. Foam dressing
Most of the dressings made of water molecular materials are covered with a layer of polyurethane semi-permeable film. High absorption capacity of exudate, efficient management capacity of exudate, and high hydrophilic materials reduce the risk of wound adhesion, promote wound healing, and foam cushion cushion external pressure.
5. Hydrocolloid dressing
The closed moisturizing principle is adopted. The hydrophilic CMC particles contact with the wound exudation, forming a layer of wet gel on the surface of the wound, and continuously creating a wet environment without adhesion to the wound.
6. Hydrogel dressing
It is a hydrophilic polyurethane polymer with high water content. It can automatically adjust the wetness of the wound, and has the ability to absorb a small amount of exudate. It does not stick to the wound and is easy to remove.
